Game Mechanics

Choplifter is a shoot 'em up in which the player controls a helicopter in view of side with horizontal scrolling with the objective of delivering hostages trapped in barracks in enemy territory. During his missions, he was forced to face three types of enemies: assault tanks, fighters and anti-aircraft mines. The tanks only attack the player's helicopter when it is on the ground. Hunters can shoot the helicopter with their anti-aircraft missiles, or bomb it when it is on the ground. Mines can reach the helicopter wherever it is and continue after they have spotted it. To fight his enemies, the player has bombs, which he can drop vertically, and anti-aircraft missiles that are fired horizontally. The player must save 64 hostages. However, his helicopter can only carry 16 of them at a time and must therefore make several round-trips between its base and the enemy territory.
