Game Mechanics

The player controls a spacecraft and has to shoot his enemies to get points, while avoiding obstacles and opposing shots.

Operating on a material basis identical to Zaxxon original and equipped with gameplay slightly faster as well as higher difficulty, the game system Super Zaxxon is similar to its predecessor. Like him, the game uses the isometric perspective, where the player can not only control the lateral movements of the ship, but also adjust its height. The scrolling is diagonal.

The graphics are nevertheless different from the first episode, all the missions taking place this time on an asteroid basis. There is therefore no space battle, unlike the first part. On the other hand, the structure of the game is the same as the mission objectives. New adversaries appear, such as the indestructible turrets of level 1 and the Mine Layer Level 2. Unlike the first game where the player is confronted, during the final battle, at the Zaxxon, a huge mobile machine, in this suite he must face three dragon robots. The Zaxxon machine did not appear in this episode.
