About game

Game Mechanics

Space Invaders is one shoot 'em up fixed in two dimensions. The player controls a laser cannon that it can move horizontally at the bottom of the screen. In the air, rows of aliens move laterally while gradually approaching the ground and launching missiles. The goal is to destroy an enemy wave with the laser gun, which consists of five rows of eleven aliens each, before it reaches the bottom of the screen. The player wins points every time he destroys an invader. The game only allows one shot at a time and allows to cancel those of the enemies by shooting at them. Speed and music accelerate as the number of aliens decreases. The total elimination of these causes a new enemy wave more difficult, and this indefinitely. The game only ends when the player loses, which makes it the first endless game.

The aliens are trying to destroy the gun while shooting while they're approaching the bottom of the screen. If they reach it or arrive to the ground, they succeeded in their invasion and the game is over. From time to time, a spaceship appears at the top of the screen and earns bonus points if destroyed. Four destructive buildings allow the player to protect himself from enemy fires. These defenses gradually disintegrate under the effect of the opposing projectiles and those of the player. The number of buildings is not the same from one version to another.
