History

The player directs the character of Tex Murphy, a blasphemed private detective living in San Francisco in a futuristic and apocalyptic era. At the beginning of the game, a young woman named Sylvia Linsky calls on the detective's services to investigate the death of her father, Dr. Carl Linsky, who was a professor at the University of San Francisco. Carl Linsky was working on a secret project at the time of his death. While the police think of a suicide, Sylvia is convinced that it is a murder.

Game Mechanics

The game starts in the speeder of Tex, a kind of flying car similar to the film Blade Runner. It is possible to control several speeder commands using the keyboard including the on-board computer and a fax. Tex can also contact his secretary and ask him to learn about the characters of the game in order to get different information making the plot progress.

In order to request information from his secretary, it is necessary to type the exact name of the person you are looking for in the computer reserved for this purpose. If a name is incorrectly spelled, the secretary indicates that she has no information on the subject. We must therefore be particularly attentive to the spelling.

A large part of the game is dedicated to asking questions to the various characters encountered in the game. The characters give each time clues to later inform their secretary and advance. After the characters gave the information, the player has the choice to thank them by giving them money or threatening them if they don't show themselves very cooperative.

Some of the information provided is for addresses in the form of a four-digit code that will then have to be entered into its on-board computer to access the address in question.

It is also possible to search places in search of clues.
