Game Mechanics

The game is divided into six main worlds connected by a hub, the more accessible the final battle zone once all the special keys are found. Each world has a number of keys leading to hidden worlds and a number of goals.

The game also includes a multiplayer mode (from 2 to 4 people). A large number of characters can be embodied by the players, each with specific strengths and weaknesses, even if no one can heal himself alone, except Adon, but this one has a low vitality, which makes it easily eliminated despite this advantage. Among the characters are raptor and Mantis that resembles Alien versus Predator; The Mantis is rather weak in body to body but it is extremely agile and fast.

Three modes are available in multiplayer: a deathmatch mode, deathmatch team, and a Frag Tag mode. The Frag Tag mode starts with a randomly selected player turned into a monkey that cannot attack and that has little life. The "monkey player" aims to reach a specific location of the level. If it happens to this point, the player returns normal and another player will be transformed into a monkey while if he is killed the player will reappear as a monkey.

It is also possible by activating one cheat code (tip code) during a multiplayer part, play solo multiplayer missions. This function was discovered on a pre-version received by the monthly N64 Magazine but was removed in the final version. Players could activate this function anyway but without being able to go far because the transporters and portals did not work in this mode and it was relatively unstable. The only way to play in this mode was to use a Action Replay or a Gameshark to correct the problem of transporters in the game.

Despite the oldness of the game, it is still very active online; a small community of fans continues to host servers for the game in online multiplayer mode.

The game has an alternative, unlockable end using the cheat code which allows among other things to choose its level, to face bumps or to be invincible. In this way it is possible to go directly to the Primagen without having released the totems of energy. If it is defeated thus, the Primagen will not be destroyed by the totems; The player is thus teleported to Adon directly after the fight and is told the failure of his mission.
