Game Mechanics

Broadsides is one wargame that simulates naval battles between two players each commanding a warship. It offers two game modes: arcade and tactics. In the first, destined for beginners, the battles are faster, the manoeuvring and shooting options are more restricted and turn on board or recharge a cannon only takes a few seconds. The tactical mode is more complete and offers sixteen different orders. It is thus possible to return to the port, to escape or repair its boat, to change the look of the ship, to change the sail, to load the canons with different types of projectiles (ball, chaîné ball, machine gun) and to aim different points of the enemy ship. The fighting between two ships and takes place in real time. They take place in several phases: first the works, in which each ship seeks to damage its opponent with its canons, then the collision. In the latter, each player has two types of troops: sword fighters and shrimps. The game can be played alone, against the computer, or two. In this case, each player orders his ship with different keys to the keyboard.
