Game Mechanics

Nether Earth is a strategy game that combines elements of resource management and supply with tactical fights. As a resistance commander, the player initially controls a sort of aeroglider that he moves on a 16-mile wide map and 512-mile long that represents the battlefield. Only a portion of the card is displayed on the screen and it scrolls diagonally to follow the movements of the aeroglider. At the base of the screen is also displayed a radar that indicates its position and those of the elements nearby. In addition to its aeroglider, the player initially controls a base that allows to make robots by assembling different components. Each robot consists of a chassis (bifeet, caterpillar or anti-gravity), a weapon (canon, missile, phaser or nuclear) and an optional electronic module, which increases the accuracy of its weapons. These components are produced by six plants scattered on the map, each producing a specific component. These plants are initially disabled but automatically activated when a robot approaches. By posing its aeroglider on its basis, the player accesses information about the plants under its control as well as the resources and components of robots available to it. By assembling these components, the player manufactures robots, which reduces its stock of resources. By placing his aeroglider on a robot, the player accesses a menu that allows him to take his orders directly, program him with a series of instruction or order him to act independently. The objective is to weaken the opposing defences, while containing its attacks, until it can destroy the bases of the Insignians with a nuclear bomb.
