Game Mechanics

Just like Street Fighter II who will revolutionize, two years later, the kind of fighting game, Final Fight becomes at its release in 1989 the new standard meter of beat them up, at the expense of the series Double Dragon.

The game system is based on three buttons: the first for blows, the second for jump and the third to escape when an enemy such as Andore (or its variants), Edi. E or Abigail grabbed you. By pressing both buttons simultaneously, the character performs a special blow that allows him to get rid of a large number of enemies at once, at the cost of a slight loss of energy. The progression in the levels is from left to right, but also in depth. Each level ends with an inevitable boss. It is also possible to pick up weapons (couteau, pipe and katana), but no firearms are available, although some bosses are equipped.

The game offers a two-player multiplayer mode simultaneously.

The player can choose between three characters, Cody, Guy and Haggar, each with its strengths and weaknesses.

Cody, 22 years old and boyfriend of Jessica, is an expert in martial arts. He excels in knives handling.

Guy, 24, is a ninjutsu master.

• Strength and weakness: fast but weak.
• Advantage: can use the walls to turn to its adversaries (Off-the-wall jump).
• Preferably arm: katana
• Special coup: Bushin hurricane kick
• Prise(s): judo catch

Haggar, mayor of Metro City, is a former wrestler. Aged 46, he's Jessica's father.

• Size : 201 cm
• Weight : 135 kg
• Strength and weakness: strong but slow.
• Advantage: Gives shots of katana and pipe faster than Guy and Cody.
• Preferably: hose
• Special coup: Spinning clothesline
• Take: German suplex and Piledriver.

The game has six colorful and varied levels, as well as two bonus levels.

1level, Slum, is the easiest and shortest. The character crosses a miserable neighborhood filled with evildoers to find the boss, Damnd, who kidnapped Jessica. After being beaten, he confesses not to hold the girl again.

In 2 level, Subway, the character fights in a subway station and then in a row. The level ends in a ring, for a confrontation with the boss SodomA samurai armed with katanas.

1Bonus level is to destroy a car belonging to Dug, a member of the Mad Gear gang in a limited time. A hose is available to help. This level will be taken as bonus level in Street Fighter II.

The 3level, West Side, takes place at night, near a restaurant and then in a bar. The giant Andore Jr. captures the character and takes him to an arena where members of the Andore family await him. After defeating all the evils, the character meets Edi E.a corrupt police officer who uses his matraque and his gun.

In the 4level, Industry Area, the hero enters a factory controlled by Mad Gear (in the first part, flames pass through the floor grid). He enters an elevator, the boss Rolento, a soldier who fights with a stick and grenades waits for him when the elevator stops. The character of Rolento will be taken back in some episodes of the series Street Fighter Alpha.

2 bonus level is to break as many windows as possible in a limited time.

5level, Bay Area, takes place along a bay. The character first crosses a dock, vandalized public toilets, then returns to the bay to fight the boss, Abigail.

6 and last level, Up Town, goes in a skyscraper. The hero begins on a terrace and then continues inside the building at the top of which awaits the last boss, Belgersitting on an electric wheelchair and armed with a crossbow.
