About game

Game Mechanics

Blood Money is one shoot them up multi-directional scrolling inspired by arcade games. The challenge consists of four different levels on four planets to the diverse environment and wildlife: Gibbawith high-tech decors, Grone, an aquatic world, Shrekpolar and Snuffa volcanic land. At each level, the player controls a different equipment: a helicopter, a submarine, a spationaute and a spaceship. The vehicles have the particularity of being able to turn indifferently to the left or right of the screen.

At first, the player has a choice to explore Gibba or Grone but from the end of the level, it can access other planets. The levels are made up of labyrinthic caves that flow through a rather slow forced scrolling, both horizontally and vertically (at the coincidences of the clutch). The enemies met are diversified with the already classic bumps.

Money is at the heart of the game problem. In the way Fantasy Zone (1986, Sega), destroyed enemies release coins to the more or less important value. By getting to recover them (they fall quickly at the bottom of the screen), the player engranges a pact that he can spend in the shops positioned here or there on the level. The stores offer eight items that relate to the development of weapons, the improvement of the vessel's constitution and the allocation of an additional life.

The game offers a two-player mode, particularly interesting given the game principle (one player kills enemies while the other gets the money) but also its difficulty, known as important in solo mode. The player starts with three lives only, and although each device has a life bar, a simple contact extended with an enemy shot can fully consume it. In addition, after each death, the player loses all the gain of the improvements made.
