Game Mechanics
The player controls a single-seater on a full-screen track, in aerial view, and must win the four-round race against three other competitors. The game is very similar to Super Sprint (1986), distinguishing itself only by proposing eight new circuits and being more playable than two simultaneous players (compared to three for Super Sprint).
The tracks of the circuits are turbulent, with double or triple eight architectures, elevations, bridges and temporary shortcuts. The track contains different types of obstacles (oil, water and mud, tornadoes, plots, retractable terminals), the number of which is gradually increasing. After a violent runway exit, the car is destroyed and a helicopter intervenes to put a new one on the track: these are long seconds of lost.
The game takes over the system of improvement of its predecessor. The player accesses the improvement screen if he manages to collect two keys on the track: one key appears per race (on the start of the 3turn) and other competitors can also pick it up. It can improve the performance of its vehicle (adherence, peak speed and acceleration) and the manoeuvring speed of the helicopter over five levels in total. The points system is based on the finish position, the average time in turn, the best time in turn and bonus tickets to pick up on the track. In the event of a tower record, a key and additional points are assigned.
The arcade terminal has a steering wheel and an acceleration pedal. The game works on the Atari System 2 system and displays an average resolution (512x384 pixels).
