Game Mechanics
The principle of the game is simple: the player handles a ball that he must bring from a starting point to an arrival point before the end of the time. In the arcade version, the player controls the ball using a trackball.
The play area is represented in isometric perspective with optical effects such as those described by Mr.C. Escher. The route presents various mobile or fixed obstacles, such as chemical flaks dissolving the ball, feeder worms, black balls trying to block the passage, slippery areas, springboards, etc. The game innovates by reproduction with great accuracy of the movement physics and ball trajectories." I think the use of the laws of physics was totally unpublished at the time" Marc Cerny.
Marble Madness proposes six levels: Practice, Beginner, Intermediate, Aerial, Silly and Ultimate. The remaining time at the end of the level is added to the expected time of the next level. The game requires some training before you can truly master the ball handling that reproduces the inertia effect quite well. Successing the six levels takes less than five minutes, but the challenge is particularly high.
It is possible to play two players simultaneously, each controlling his own ball.
