Game Mechanics
GeneralIn comparison with the first Super Mario Land opus, Wario is able to transform itself by wearing different hairs. Its usual form is Wario, able to load on its opponents and destroy blocks. When he is injured, he becomes Wario Minus, smaller in size, unable to load (he can still jump, jump on his opponents and catch them once dizzy). The player can find different hairs that allows him to acquire new powers:
- The Bull: With its Taurus horns, Wario has a more powerful load, and can crush the ground, creating a shock wave. It can also hang on to the ceiling temporarily (and move if the ceiling is a treadmill).
- The Avion: Wario's charge allows him to fly for a short time and pass over the precipices. Mastered timing allows Wario to succeed several flight sequences and sometimes overfly the entire level. It can also be thanks to this ability to move more easily into the water.
- The Dragon: Wario's hair creates a drag of flames to destroy enemies and obstacles. It can also be used under water.
There is another object: the garlic pod retransforming Wario minus to Wario (taking a garlic clove in Wario normal transforms it into Wario Taureau; be injured in Wario or wearing a Wario retransform hair in Wario minus.)
Unlike Mario's first opus, money is not used to buy lives, but serves as a treasure. Lives are separate bonuses, represented in the form of curs (1 c'ur va 10, and eliminate an enemy allows to win 1 tenth of cur). Some big blocks contain a big, three-life, or a big, 100-piece coin.
LevelsThere are 7 areas in the game, of which 6 are mandatory.
The adventure begins Rice Beach where the player discovers the basic principles. The boss is a Koopa Troopa with pikes. Mount Teapot, volcano in the appearance of a teapot, is the second zone of the game. Here, the boss, a minotaur, is in a floating lid invented by Syrup's army. To beat him, you have to send him to the lava. The icy mountain Sherbet Land is the 3Game area. This area is accessible by a secret entrance and is therefore not mandatory. The boss is a penguin boxer and, in order to beat him, he must be jumped three times on his head by removing his spicy hat. Stove Canyon is a canyon filled with the lava Mount Teapot, the boss is a big head destroying with his tongue the stones that protect the deadly lava player. He throws volcanic stones with his nose. To beat him, you have to send him three. S.S. Tea Cup is a boat from Syrup's army. The boss is a big bird that sends little birds to the player. The area Parsley Woods' is a forest run by a railway, which forces the player to make levels in trains or wagons, usually with a gameplay in forced scrolling. The boss is a ghost who throws little ghosts on the player. The final zone, Syrup Castle, is the headquarters of enemies. The bosses are Captain Syrup, dressed as a knight, accompanied by his genius. When Wario beats both, he finds a statue of Princess Peach. Mario arrives in a helicopter, takes the statue and goes away by greeting Wario.
Money and game endThe money obtained during the game will allow Wario to buy the castle worthy of his dreams. In each end of level, Wario can participate in games to earn lives or more money (he can also lose money). He totals in his bag the money he just won before returning to the card.
In some levels, Wario can also find treasures in artifact form. It must therefore discover a hidden key and a closed door, in which a safe is located.
When he finishes his adventure, Wario ends up totaling all his gold (by converting treasures into gold coins). It gets a home whose comfort and size vary according to the accumulated gold (e.g. a tree house, a castle or, with 99999 pieces, a planet with Wario's head engraved on it). The player is therefore invited to continue the game after having finished it first (if he does not have the maximum gold at the end otherwise the inscription "Perfect game!" appears), looking for more gold and treasures, in order to obtain the greatest rewards.
