About game

Game Mechanics

For profile view, the player controls Luke Skywalker on board snowspeeder fighting TB-TT during the Battle of Hoth. The goal is to retain the imperial quadripodes as long as possible before they destroy the rebel base.

The player can destroy the quadripodes by pulling into their body, the shots in the legs being ineffective. When the TB-TT is damaged, it changes color, passing from black (no damage) to several shades of grey then to red, orange and yellow (significant damage). Another way to destroy a quadripode is to aim a brilliant point that appears on it randomly. On the Intellivision version, it takes thirty shots to destroy a TB-TT, forty-eight on Atari 2600.

When snowspeeder the player is affected, it also changes color, which corresponds to the damage he received. If the player lands, he can fix his ship. As the game progresses, TB-TTs can become "solid", i.e. the player can hit them instead of passing through. They can also shoot guided bombs that continue the player's ship to destroy it. The player can benefit from a special power given by the Force. When this happens, snowspeeder flashes in several colors and becomes invulnerable for a limited time.

The game over intervenes when the player gets destroyed his fifth snowspeeder or when the head TB-TT reaches the rebel base and blows it. The more the player survives and prevents assaults, the faster the quadripodes thus increase the difficulty of the game.
