Castlevania - Legacy of Darkness

History

The story is 50 years before Castlevania 64. While Dracula is in her sleep, a woman, Actress, and a man, Gilles de Rais, ask Death to bring him back. During a funeral ceremony accompanied by a sacrifice, Dracula returns to life. The player can then see a summary of the action explaining that a wolf man, Cornell, has become able to master his wolf man alter ego at the cost of many sacrifices. The player will play Cornell along the adventure.

The action then returns to a burning village, destroyed by an army of skeletons. Cornell then arrives in front of his house, devastated. He discovers in front of his own bra, Ada. He then decided to start chasing the skeletons to find her. While Cornell arrives in front of the castle wall, the door in front of him closes. Then appeared Ortega, another head man whom Cornell had defeated. Cornell realizes that Ortega has a weird behavior. He discovered that Ortega sold himself to Dracula. After escaped from the inside of the walls, Cornell arrives in a strange villa. He then fought the housemaster, whom Dracula changed into a vampire and who was pursuing his wife through the house. Mary then asked Cornell to help her son Henry escape from the house. Cornell confides Ada's necklace to Henry and passes through the forest. He then fought Gilles de Rais. While Actress appears, it is revealed that all this was just a test. Gilles de Rais says that "he shouldn't make a pale face to Him" (subtext, Dracula).

After passing through the numerous towers of the castle, Cornell is beset by a werewolf more powerful than him. Ortega appears and explains to him that this man could not master his powers. After defeating the monster, Cornell embarked on the pursuit of Ortega. In a final fight, Ortega was defeated and explained that he was obsessed with his defeat in front of Cornell and thought to use Dracula's powers in front of him. In the clock tower, Cornell finds Ada, who is immediately captured by Death. After finding Ada and Dracula in the dungeon, Dracula explains that Ada is actually the survivor of a village massacred by the werewolfes, which Cornell had collected in the hope of penance. While Cornell is about to face Dracula, the latter absorbs Ada. Confronting Cornell with the choice of killing his "ur" or letting evil dominate the world. Cornell decides to fight Dracula.

While Dracula, returning into darkness, took Ada with him, Cornell substituted his wolf form for Ada to save her.
