History
The goal of the game is to escape the police as well as other offenders, in order to arrive in a showroom to give a concert of Blues. Such a performance requiring suitable material, one must also find in the different levels of the game a guitar, a microphone, a amp, a concert poster and a music score. The game takes place in six places representing six levels: a shopping center, a factory, a prison, sewers, a yard, to finally arrive in a concert hall.
Game Mechanics
The game can play alone or two on the same computer or console. In solitary, the player can choose between two characters: Jack or Elwood. In multiplayer mode, each of the two players must choose a different character from the other.
In this 2D game in the third person, the screen is centered on the controlled character (although it changes on some computers like the PC, where the character is not necessarily centered but still visible on the screen). In multiplayer mode, the frame is centered only on one of the two players, which can prove quite difficult to manage.
Each player starts the game with three playable games, each composed of three lives (symbolized by urs). Whenever a player comes into contact with an enemy or a dangerous element of the scene, he loses a life. If the player loses three lives, a new game is engaged, and the game resumes at the beginning of the current level or in the middle of the level (if the player had exceeded the middle of the level in question). If the player loses his three games, he definitely lost the game (a screen "Game Over» appears). However, it is possible to win lives and games during the game, by picking discs (100 collected disks are transformed into an extra life), urs (which give a more life), or sunglasses with a hat (which adds a potential additional part). There are also interrogation points (or gift packages in the Amstrad CPC version) on which the player can pass, which can either give additional disks (by lot of 50, or the equivalent of half-life), or remove them (by lot of 20), or make the character dance for a few seconds, which may be dangerous if an enemy with a gun is in the scenes. To defend itself, the player has some sort of boxes that he can lift, carry, then throw on his enemies.
During the game, each player can walk forward and back, jump, fall (especially to avoid enemy shots), climb or descend through ladders, and swim (without worrying about breathing...). It is also possible to mount steps jumping from one to another, and to enter into pieces to recover discs or guitar in the first level, indispensable to pass to the second level. Indeed, the player will have to recover in each level one of the objects mentioned in the above synopsis in order to pass to the next level by catching a small flag at the end of the level. If the player has forgotten to recover the object to be found in the level, it will not be able to pass to the next level when it takes one of the small flags.
