History
Street Fighter II counts among the first battle games in duel, also called one-to-one or face-to-face, at a time when the beat them all dominate the genre. It is not the first, since preceded by mythical titles such as Yie Ar Kung-Fu, and more lucrative titles such as Street Fighter, the first episode of the series. But he is one of the pioneers, having offered a youth cure to this subgenus of the fighting game.
The player has two game modes. The first mode, arcade mode, takes the form of a big tournament on the world scale where the player fights round after round against the playable characters of the game, controlled by artificial intelligence, to finally fall nose to nose against four boss, harder to beat. The second mode allows to play two, simply. During the fights of the arcade mode, the screen invites any moment the other player to join the game. If the other player supports "Start", the fight is interrupted and both players play against each other according to a rule where the loser chooses, if he wishes, another character. It should be noted that you can never, in this version of the game, play against its double, unless you enter a code.
The player(s), depending on the mode chosen, must have a character. The game proposes to take control of eight different characters. Each character has its own appearance, its own history and its own style of combat, logically giving a different array of attacks for each of these fighters.
The two warriors are facing face to face in two-dimensional closed arenas, where the possibilities of movement are fourfold: to advance, back, jump and grow. These arenas, or levels, are numerous, varied and of high graphic quality. Each character, playable and boss, has a level which is unique to it, to the effigy of its country of origin. Among these twelve levels are an open-air dojo for Ryu, a shopping street and animated from China for Chun-Li, an American airbase with a fighter plane for Guile, a mining factory and its Soviets for Zangief, a temple in honor of Ganesha with sacred elephants for Dhalsim, from cabanons to the edge of the Amazon for Blanka' These landscapes of the world are a characteristic of the Capcom games. The decors of these levels are very rich in details and colors, and are subject to animations: the spectators are in motion and the other characters go to their occupations.
